De-cluttering Your Inner Space

Published on

As weird as this might sound, I absolutely love cleaning. Cleaning is both therapeutic and restorative. I am sure you would agree, when any space including your room, house, car, desk or office is clean, you feel great. You experience a sense of lightness, buoyancy, expansion and general pleasantness.

Have you ever asked yourself why? Why does something as simple as a clean and tidy room have such a liberating effect on you? The answer is actually as simple as the question. You have cleared the clutter, dust and all the things that you no longer want or need and created more space. A space for all the goodness to flow.

The same is true for our inner world, as it is for our outer world. De-cluttering your mental, emotional and energetic space is crucial to maintaining your peace, joy, clarity and flow.

The truth is, however, most of us rarely consider this very important fact. We know the importance and recognize the value in cleaning our external spaces and even the physical body but we are ignorant to the other aspects of our being, which requires similar or even more attention.

Cleaning and clearing my inner space is one of my daily practices. I eagerly look forward to it everyday because my life is a living testimony of its effects.

De-cluttering your inner space is simply releasing and letting go of beliefs, thoughts, ideas, situations and experiences that no longer serve you.

Imagine for a moment that your inner space was an actual, physical room. And all of your internal stuff kept piling up in that one room. You held on to everything from as early as your childhood because you never gave anything away, you never dumped anything and certainly did not practice recycling.

Can you even imagine what that room would look like or what it would feel like. Living in such a space will be impossible.

It is the same with our inner spaces. If we don't allow ourselves to forgive, cleanse and clear old, stored energies, we run the risk of preventing life to flow through us naturally. We become stagnant. We keep ourselves back. We become the obstacle in the way of our success and progress.

My inner clearing practice is quite simple. The two main ingredients are awareness and intention.

1. First, using self-reflection, I  allow myself to become aware of any limiting and restrictive beliefs, ideas, situations or experiences that are negatively affecting me.

2. Once I am able to identify these, with intention, I then use the mantra, "I release and let go of...." I state specifically what it is I choose to release and let it go. I then thank the Universe for bringing it to my attention.

This uncomplicated, yet powerful exercise has time and time again freed me of my internal clutter.

Just yesterday, I experienced the power of clearing my inner space. I became aware of some limiting beliefs and thoughts regarding a situation I had been praying about. Once it was identified, armed with intention, I  freely and openly released and let it go. I felt different and lighter, almost immediately after. My friend Kiki, even made mention of the difference in my presence that day.

The main by-product however, of this clearing experience was what came later on. Later that day, I gained crystal, clear clarity on the way forward regarding the same matter. I was completely blown away and in awe of how quickly the Universe worked, all because the required space was created.

I encourage you to give more attention to your inner world. Give yourself the gift of cleaning house by removing outdated ideas, stale beliefs, past-due situations and experience the freedom, lightness and flow of life.
