Meet My 1 Year Old Teachers

Published on

These two miniature humans are currently some of the best teachers I've ever had the pleasure of being enlightened by.

For the past two months, school has been in full session with countless lessons and reminders given to me free of charge.

It is a general belief that as adults, our only role in the lives of our children is to teach, guide and direct them. While this is true, many times we deny ourselves the privilege and honor to be students as well.

Being afforded the golden opportunity to care for both my niece and nephew has allowed me to remember the following valuable lessons:

1. I am a complete and whole being just as I am.

2. It's okay to laugh and cry, feel sad,  angry,  frustrated or not sure.

3. Never stop playing and being silly, it is critical to my well being.

4. Be curious about everything and explore as much as I can.

5. Life is very simple and it doesn't take much for us to be content.

6. Take every opportunity to laugh, even if no one else is.

I continue to sit at their feet, eager to absorb and learn all the lessons being readily shared.
