What you allow is what will continue!

Published on

Quite recently I had an experience with a friend who reminded me that no matter the circumstances and no matter who they are, I am 100% responsible for what I allow and what I disallow in my life.

I'm sure you will agree, many times in our relationships , we allow certain questionable and in some instances unacceptable behaviors to slip by because we truly love and care for our loved ones.

Irregardless of the fact that their behavior is un-serving and affects us negatively, we choose to turn the other cheek, so to speak.

I am a firm advocate of being compassionate to each and everyone because we are all at various stages in evolution and we are all developing at our own paces.

However, there is a difference between being compassionate and understanding of someone, whose past wounds currently distort their true way of being and allowing someone to treat you in a less than desirable way.

The reality is, people learn to treat us based on the simple premise of what we allow, we encourage and what we disallow, we discourage.

We cannot determine and dictate someone else's choices, reactions or responses to our way of being. But we can control our choice, reaction and response. We get to choose if we allow ourselves to stay in a relationship or situation that does not serve us.

Always remember who you are, a being of tremendous value and unquestionable worth. You have a choice of how you should be treated and should never subject yourself to any form of treatment other than what you feel within your heart you deserve.

Speak up in love, let others know when their actions or words are hurtful and damaging. And always choose to preserve your heart and being in any situation. Be wise and let go of relationships that do not nourish and  support your ultimate best self.
